THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME…

Let’s put it all aside and make some smiles, warm some hearts, and rock the fuck on!

I know a lot of my friends on the right that used to dig "the Boss" who now find his political rhetoric and his disdain for our President to be more than off putting; almost obsessive. I can't say I completly disagree, but I'm that way for all musicians who don't let their music do the talking, then find the need to elevate their preaching even more in concert. Keep in mind, that's whether I agree or disagree with their political stances, there’s zero toleration on my part. God bless em, that's the rights we've been afforded living in this great country. It's your right to either support him/them or not; to buy tickets or not, to buy the albums or not.

I've finally found a peace in closing all of the noise out. His beliefs and leanings have always been in his music, now it's just become more extreme and inbetween song fodder. If he and guys like him, Roger Waters, Ted Nugent, Kid Rock and Neil Young don't feel the extreme over the top, extremist bullshit that's already being spewed on a minute to minute basis from every nook and cranny of the world isn't enough, well that's on them. Splitting their own fanbases their music in half doesn’t seem like a logical choice but, so be it. Ain’t much return that you get back simply by preaching to your own choir though.

Me? I only care about the music, me not listening, not buying, not going to a show also isn't going to do a fucking thing, good or bad to any of them. I've seen plenty of artists that I agree with and disagree with politically in concert. I have a two-strike and I’m out rule…that first sermon is free, then if it happens a second time, I just leave to get a drink or walk out of the show completely (in the case of Roger Waters) and I simply pass the next go round if it’s continuing. I know what I’m walking into for the most part (though Jon Bon Jovi caught me off guard back in the day). Do I like the fact that I have a really great chance of blowing in excess of $200 bucks more or less, sure. Maybe it's my hope they'll finally see that the music is more important than their in between song banter and rants. .

I hope one day they’ll wake up and see the things they've done in the past that's a complete disgusting and/or vile action, similar to what they're regurgitating over and over about who they believe is a "villain". Maybe they too should take a step back from that microphone when giving a disertation of their "love" for country, their love and respect for religion, for the love and passion for the less fortunate, to see that maybe their own political beliefs keep those from rising. Maybe they'll see their own greed and sexual misconduct as they do in others, then again, they've been all lying to themselves far longer than two terms of any president. I wonder if any of them see their own personality flaws as clear as they see any of the people they're spewing disgust at. I know they don't nor will they ever admit it, so...

I cut the noise out until the music starts playing. Bruce and the Nuge have always been in my top favorites, musically speaking. They are obviously complete opposites in their political beliefs. I never let their personal lives, whether rumored or fact, hinder my love and appreciaton with their songs. If I did that for every fucking artists, I would be reading and not listening to any music.

Words of advice before you put yourselves so far out there that you’re alienating a pretty fucking large portion of your audience that will adversely affect you power, income, and your own dignity…Maybe pump the brakes on the righteousness until you’ve cleaned your own house. Until you do, I still have the music, that won’t change.
